A women’s team was selected to represent the Victorian Aboriginal community at the World Indigenous Basketball Challenge which will be held in Vancouver, Canada during 9th – 12th August 2017. The team consist of 9 players and three coaching staff and will feature former Opals player Rohanee Cox and will be coached by the former Boomers player Danny Morseu.
Attending the World Indigenous Basketball Challenge will give the participants an opportunity to share cultural, political and spiritual experiences with each other and with women from other Indigenous cultures. The experience of international travel will provide them with a world view which will develop and enhance their leadership skill. Building upon each woman’s strength participating in the WIBC will provide them with the opportunity to become role models and future leaders for their local communities.
